More Information

Tim Barnes and the Five Grand band is a dynamic 4 piece band that features an all-star cast of great musicians who call the SF east bay home. This band sounds like money! The reason for the name 5 grand? It's because that's what we need to get paid to play! But seriously - Tim has spent his whole life performing music, has shared the stage with many music legends including Stevie Ray Vaughan and now he has a brand new band of hot shot players. Tim's music career took off when he was just 21 with his first band Stoneground. Stoneground's first gig was opening for Albert King, starting out as a power trio from Concord, CA. Later Tim and Stoneground joined forces with Sal Valentino, Cory Lerios (later of Pablo Cruise) and Steve Price as they toured Europe for a second time. Annie Sampson, an original vocalist for Stoneground continued to work with Tim when the group brought on new members Jo Baker (from Elvin Bishop Group), Sammy Piazza (Hot Tuna) and Fred Webb (It's A Beautiful Day) along with Terry Davis on Bass. Stoneground did five albums with Warner Brothers and 9 albums overall.

In 2009, Tim put together a new group featuring musicians from the San Francisco East Bay. Tim Barnes and the Cadaver dogs released one Cd and featured mainly Tim's original material. The album also marked the beginning of Tim's collaboration with Bassist / producer/songwriter Dan Stanton. After performing widely throughout the Northern California scene the Cadaver Doggs were retired after co-founding guitarist and all around great guy Randy Stauffer passed away. Last year Dan approached Tim with the idea of forming their own version of a "super group." Dan quickly put together a studio session and Tim worked on the song arrangements for a brand new CD. We are very proud to announce the 2014 release of a new CD by a brand new band!

With Tim, leading the band, calling the tunes and lighting the audience on fire - this band is simply built to take their audience on a joy ride... so jump on in with the James Dean of Guitar and the band that sounds like five grand!

Bedrock Radio:

The formula for a great band - Two Guitars, Bass, Drums and everybody sings! It gets even better when the music is an all original blend of Americana and swampy blues. The band features Josh Monfredini and Brad Bryant on guitars, Mike Perez on drums and Dan Stanton on bass. These guys have done their homework and paid some serious dues - Brad has been studying at the university of Ron Thompson, while Josh and Mike have been performing in a variety of bands in the Bay Area music scene for years, in fact Mike actually made a decent living out of music back in the 19th century with the Violet Fox Band! Dan comes bathed in the blues from Florida, been schooled in all things bass by Steve Bailey and Gary Willis and has produced and released 3 solos cds. Together this band brings a wide variety of influences together in a certifiably funky way.

The Prasad Brothers:

Mikie Lee Prasad is a treasured Bay Area musician who knows his way around a song and is armed with a charismatic voice, inspired guitar chops, and the easy, yet steady, chime of the tambourine he wears around his ankle. His recordings also display his talent for playing the piano, bass and mandolin. He is an excellent producer and continues to bring the best out of everyone he records and performs with.
Che Prasad is a multi-instrumentalist singer songwriter who draws upon sources of inspiration ranging from folk rock to sea shanties to flamenco to North Indian classical music. His first solo CD entitled "Shiva Me Timbers," produced by his brother Mikie Lee Prasad, showcases the instruments he loves, musicians he admires, and stories from his life that he has been waiting to tell. Together, they are the Prasad Brothers!
